WHERE LIGHT MEETS THE DESERT SOUL
Soul of the Dune
Wind breathes through the desert in its own rhythm, shaping patterns as it sweeps through the grains of sand. It leaves behind a trace of itself – an ever-changing imprint, almost impossible to capture. Living and breathing, yet unyielding to other forces.
When you stand on top of the dune, the sun strikes at just the right angle, and the wind stirs the air, it reveals itself for just a moment – the Soul of the Dune.
Sans Souci partnered with COLAB at Dubai Design Week 2025 and the installation was presented in front of their showroom in Dubai Design District – D3, Retail Unit 2, Building 1B.
ABOUT INSTALLATION
The piece is crafted from slumped flat glass, enhanced with aurum nanocoating – Sans Souci’s signature ultra-thin, reflective, semi-transparent layer of metal that transforms glass into a living canvas of light. Dynamic lighting completes the composition, bringing it to life, much like sunlight gliding across the dunes
The design by Petr Vacek was created using a special generative system – a set of scripted rules defining the relationships between form, pattern, and motion. Each glass component follows its rules, resulting in a composition that feels both precise and naturally fluid, forming the organic pattern of wind-blown dunes.
