Our bespoke lighting helps to shape a contemporary interior that honours the building’s architectural heritage of the Cafe Athenee in the InterContinental Athenee Palace.
Café Athénée, located within the historic InterContinental Athénée Palace, has long been a cornerstone of Bucharest’s cultural and social life. As the iconic café underwent a meticulous renovation, Sans Souci was invited to contribute our expertise in bespoke lighting, helping to shape a contemporary interior that honours the building’s architectural heritage.
Working from a design prepared by Eliška Luhanová, with the wider interior scheme led by Alexander James Interiors, we provided a tailored lighting solution that enhances the café’s refreshed atmosphere – where Art Deco influences, neoclassical details, and modern elegance come together.
The Symphony Collection
At the heart of the project is a custom installation positioned above the main countertop, crafted from our Symphony collection. Complementing this centrepiece, we supplied matching wall lights that bring a cohesive and refined lighting language to the space.
The Symphony collection features crystal tubes defined by sleek geometric cuts and finished with a reflective gold nanocoating. Arranged in a cascading composition, the components capture and reshape light into dynamic patterns, bringing depth and a contemporary edge to the café’s warm, elegant interior.
By integrating Symphony into the design, the space gains a distinctive focal point – one that highlights the interplay of materiality, craftsmanship, and light that defines Sans Souci’s work.
